US Ballet Events

Across the United States, there are various ballet events that take place. These events are performed by different ballet companies. Some of these ballet companies are the American Repertory Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, and the Houston Ballet.

ABT Across America

During a year that devastated the performing arts, American Ballet Theatre returned to its live performances with its ABT Across America tour. The road trip will bring 20 of ABT’s most renowned dancers and 28 support staff to eight cities across the U.S. This epic summer tour will feature a wide range of classical repertoire.

The ABT Across America tour will travel 3,100 miles across 14 states. Starting in Lincoln, Nebraska, the dance company will travel through Minneapolis, Chicago, and St. Louis before arriving in Middleburg, Virginia.

The ABT Across America tour is a celebration of the history of ABT’s cross-country tours in the 1940s and 1950s. The company’s first tour took place in 1943, spanning 73 cities. This summer, the company will bring 20 dancers and 28 support staff to eight different cities across the U.S.

American Ballet Academy

Whether you’re a ballet enthusiast or a casual fan, there are plenty of events to catch at the American Ballet Academy. You can find the schedule on the Academy’s website or search for the event of your choice. If you’re looking for a little holiday cheer, the Academy will be holding a free performance of The Nutcracker in December. It’s also worth checking out the Creative Movement program, which teaches body awareness, coordination and flexibility.

The Academy also runs a pre-ballet program for students between the ages of three and eight. This program combines ballet with geography, math and self-expression. The program is designed to help students build a strong foundation in ballet, but also encourages them to challenge themselves and learn new skills.

American Repertory Ballet

Founded in 1998, American Repertory Ballet is a New Jersey-based ballet company that presents a variety of performances. The company is a part of the Princeton Ballet School. It performs works by modern choreographers and ballet masters, as well as traditional repertoire from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The company has received a Citation of Excellence from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and is the recipient of the Jersey Arts People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dance Company. In addition to performing at local theaters, the company also offers dance outreach programs that bring dance to communities throughout New Jersey and the region.

The company’s new executive director is Julie Diana Hench. She has experience in the arts, including her work with the Ballet Company of New York. She has also worked in the arts education field.

New York City Ballet

Located in New York City, New York City Ballet is one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world. NYCB focuses on the development of a new generation of choreographers and audiences, and is home to over ninety dancers and nearly 70 orchestra members. They perform sixty ballets per season and have the largest repertoire of ballets in the United States.

NYCB is known for its interpretations of classical choreography. They also regularly tour internationally. They have a world-class roster of dancers and an extensive repertoire. Their performances include classics such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. They also perform new works by contemporary choreographers.

Houston Ballet

Founded in 1973, Houston Ballet has become a premier ballet company in the United States. They perform nationally and internationally and have toured to all fifty states. In addition to performing, they offer dance classes, workshops, and classes for children. They have won many awards for their performances.

One of the most notable features of Houston Ballet is their commitment to the community. Through education and outreach programs, they help over 60,000 participants every year. They also offer a variety of dance classes and workshops, including their Pre-Professional Program. They have a Professional Program that is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in ballet.

S.F. Ballet

SF Ballet is the oldest professional ballet company in the U.S. It is led by Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson. It has a wide repertory of ballets. These include works by August Bournonville, George Balanchine, Lew Christensen, Sir Frederick Ashton, and Antony Tudor.

The company is known for its world-class performances. It was nominated for the Outstanding Company award by the National Dance Awards in 2014. It received the Jerome Robbins Award in 2008. San Francisco Ballet was also awarded the Laurence Olivier Award in 2005 for Outstanding Achievement in Dance.

The company also offers special events and performances. There are regular season performances from January through May. During the spring repertory seasons, the company performs works by world-renowned choreographers. In December, the San Francisco Ballet Company performs Nutcracker. It is considered the most popular ballet performance in the U.S.
